In Germany, official marriages take place at the registry office (Standesamt). Be aware that this is a very formal process. Many couples therefore opt for an additional free, personal, non-religious wedding, which is a wise decision as it is the true emotional highlight.

Whether you want a quiet or lively, festive or relaxed ceremony, the format can be tailored to your preferences. It’s not the other way round.
